About
Hi, I’m Karl and I am predominantly an equine and pet portrait artist working from my studio in a small village in Lincolnshire. Located in the Fens central to Spalding, Peterborough and Lincoln, I enjoy creating life-like equine, pet and occasionally wildlife portraits.
I specialise in both coloured pencils and pastels. Using only the best materials, each commission is given the time and attention it deserves. Perfecting and capturing the personality of each subject with the aim always to create a stunningly realistic portrait.
My passion for drawing can be found in my life-long love of birds, animals and wildlife. I have been working on a commission basis now since 2019 and my artwork can already be found in homes around the world.
I am a member of the Association of Animal Artists, The SAA and the UK Coloured Pencil Society.

Commissions
Commissioning a pet portrait is easy – just follow these 3 easy steps:
1 ) Get in touch

I will send you a full information pack to help guide you through the process.
2) Send your photo
I will require at least one good quality digital reference photograph preferably taken in natural daylight (overcast is best), however the more reference photos you send the more detail and better portrait you will receive.
I can come and take my own photographs if you are struggling for just the cost of fuel (25p per mile) and a cup of tea!
3) Place your order
You will be asked for a 30% deposit to confirm your booking. You can pay by direct bank transfer or PayPal.
I will send regular email updates where you can see how things are progressing, offer advice and make changes to ensure the finished piece is perfect.
Once you have approved the finished portrait you will be asked for the outstanding balance.
Your portrait will be packed safely and sent to you with tracking to ensure safe delivery. I can deliver or you are more than welcome to collect in person by prior arrangement, I love meeting clients and pets in person!

Prices include tonal backgrounds and UK postage and packing (please contact me for overseas shipping costs).
Add 20% for detailed backgrounds. Additional subjects will be charged at £50 per subject.
Please note the sizes are based on the paper size, not the size of the actual drawing, if you have a required size for a portrait because you may have a frame already then please contact me.
In the unlikely event you do not approve the portrait, there is a money back guarantee (less deposit) whereby you will be refunded, and I will retain the portrait.
